Julian Cope

Julian Cope is a British artist known for his work as a vocalist, bassist, songwriter, author, and poet. Born on October 21, 1957 in Deri, Monmouthshire, Wales, UK, he grew up in Tamworth before moving to Liverpool. Currently residing in Avebury, UK, Julian is the father of Avalon Cope.

In May 1977, Julian co-founded The Crucial Three alongside Ian McCulloch and Pete Wylie. Although the band disbanded just a month later in June 1977. In 1978, he formed the post-punk band The Teardrop Explodes which brought him fame but eventually disbanded in late 1982.

After returning to Tamworth (UK), Julian began recording his first solo album released in 1984. He then ventured into writing books about his musical career and other subjects. Notably, he founded Queen Elizabeth in 1992 and Brain Donor in 1999; both bands are still active today.
