Luther Vandross

Luther Vandross was a highly acclaimed American singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born on April 20, 1951 in New York City, he began his career as a backing singer for renowned artists such as David Bowie, Bette Midler, Donna Summer, and Carly Simon. In the late 1970s, Luther formed the group Change and achieved success with hits like "A Lover's Holiday" and "The Glow Of Love".

In 1981, Luther embarked on a successful solo career with the release of his debut album Never Too Much. He went on to release five more albums between 1982 and 1985, all of which sold over a million copies each. Throughout his career, Luther received numerous accolades including eight Grammy Awards and multiple platinum certifications.

Tragically, Luther Vandross passed away on July 1, 2005 at the age of 54 after suffering from a major stroke two years prior. His soulful voice and heartfelt ballads continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.
