Mavis Staples

Mavis Staples is an American gospel, R&B and soul singer and civil rights activist. Born on July 10, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, she has made a significant impact on the music industry both as a member of her family's band The Staple Singers and as a solo artist.

With her powerful voice and passionate performances, Mavis has captivated audiences around the world. She comes from a musical lineage that includes her father Pops Staples and siblings Cleotha, Yvonne, and Pervis. Together with The Staple Singers, they created timeless hits that blended gospel harmonies with elements of R&B and soul.
