Mike Bloomfield

Mike Bloomfield was a highly respected guitarist known for his fluid playing style. Born on July 28, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, he had the privilege of playing with many of the city's blues legends before gaining fame himself. His influence on the revival of classic Chicago and other styles of blues music during the mid-to-late 1960s cannot be overstated. In fact, Rolling Stone ranked him at number 22 on their list of "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" in 2003.

Unlike some of his contemporaries like Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck, Bloomfield preferred a clean sound with minimal distortion and feedback. He favored a loud yet chiming tone with generous reverb. Gibson even released a Michael Bloomfield Les Paul guitar to honor his impact on the blues genre and his influence on other guitarists.

If you enjoy artists such as John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, or Johnny Winter, then you will definitely appreciate Mike Bloomfield's incredible talent and contribution to the world of music.
