Mose Allison

Mose Allison was an American jazz blues pianist and singer. Born in Tippo, Mississippi, he began playing piano at a young age and went on to study English and Philosophy at Louisiana State University. In 1956, he moved to New York City where he launched his jazz career and formed his own trio. Known for his unique style and ironic sense of humor, Allison released numerous albums throughout his career, including the acclaimed "Mose Allison Sings" in 1963. He was honored with a blues marker on the Mississippi Blues Trail in 2012 and was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

Allison's music has been described as delivered in a casual conversational way with a melodic southern accented tone that perfectly suits his idiosyncratic phrasing. His performances showcase his laconic approach and clever sense of humor. With over 150 songs to his name, Mose Allison remains an influential figure in the world of jazz blues.
