Pennywise

Pennywise is an American punk rock band from Hermosa Beach, California. Formed in 1988 by Jim Lindberg, Fletcher Dragge, Jason Thirsk, and Byron McMackin, the group quickly gained recognition with their eponymous debut album released through Epitaph Records in 1991. With a sound that went against the grain of the grunge movement at the time, Pennywise played a pivotal role in shaping the emerging West Coast punk scene. The band's name was inspired by Stephen King's horror novel IT and its evil clown monster.

Throughout their career, Pennywise has experienced changes in their lineup. In 1996, during a hiatus from the group, bassist Jason Thirsk tragically passed away. Randy Bradbury joined as his replacement and has been with the band since then. Vocalist Jim Lindberg also took a break from Pennywise but returned to lead vocals in 2012 after Zoli Teglas filled in for him between 2010 and 2012.

The current members of Pennywise include Fletcher Dragge on guitar (since 1988), Randy Bradbury on bass (since 1995), Byron McMackin on drums (since 1988), and Jim Lindberg on vocals (from 1988-2009 and since 2012). Former members include Jason Thirsk on bass (1988-1995), Dave Quackenbush briefly
