Pig Destroyer

Pig Destroyer is a grindcore band that was formed in 1997 in Alexandria, Virginia. The band consists of vocalist J.R. Hayes, guitarist Scott Hull, and drummer John Evans. Originally known as Cop Destroyer, the trio wasted no time and immediately started rehearsing. They quickly released a self-titled demo and participated in a split with Orchid.

In 1998, Pig Destroyer embarked on an East Coast tour with other notable bands such as Drop Dead, Converge, Kid Dynamite, and Isis. During this time, they underwent a lineup change when drummer John Evans departed and was replaced by Brian Harvey. The band's popularity grew as they played more shows and released their album "Explosions in Ward 6," establishing themselves as one of the premier grindcore bands.

Over the years, Pig Destroyer continued to tour extensively with renowned acts like Discordance Axis, Phobia, Daybreak, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Disassociate. They even performed at the prestigious 2000 March Metal Meltdown event. In July 2000, the band signed with Relapse Records and recorded a successful split 7" with Isis that sold out within a month.
