Procol Harum

Procol Harum was formed in 1967 by singer and pianist Gary Brooker, after the disbandment of a rhythm & blues band. Their first single, "A Whiter Shade of Pale," co-written by Brooker and Reid, became a #1 hit and established them as pioneers of symphonic rock. Although subsequent albums and singles didn't achieve the same level of success, Procol Harum's unique sound continued to captivate audiences.

The original line-up for their first single included Gary Brooker on vocals and piano, Matthew Fisher on Hammond organ, David Knights on bass, Ray Royer on guitar, and drums by session drummer Bill Eyden. After a hiatus, Procol Harum re-formed in 1991 with Brooker on vocals and piano, Keith Reid providing lyrics, Fisher on Hammond organ, along with guest musicians Dave Bronze on bass, Mark Brzezicki on drums, and Jerry Stevenson playing mandolin and guitar.

With their distinctive blend of rock music infused with symphonic elements, Procol Harum has carved out a unique place in the music industry. Fans of artists like The Moody Blues or Emerson Lake & Palmer will appreciate Procol Harum's innovative sound that pushes boundaries while captivating listeners.
