Professor Longhair

American pianist, vocalist and songwriter, Professor Longhair was born on December 19, 1918 in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He is considered the creator of New Orleans Rhythm & Blues and was musically active from 1949 to 1964. After a hiatus, he made a comeback in the early 1970s. Professor Longhair passed away on January 30, 1980 in New Orleans.
