The Raincoats

The Raincoats are a British post-punk band that was active from 1977 to 1984 and then reformed in 1993. The original line-up consisted of Gina Birch on bass, Ana Da Silva on guitar, Vicky Aspinall on second guitar/violin, and Palmolive (Paloma Romero) on drums. After the release of their first album in 1979, Palmolive left and was replaced by Ingrid Weiss.

Having released three studio albums, the band disbanded in 1984 but reunited in 1994 due to renewed interest. Anne Wood and Heather Dunn joined as new members to record a new EP and an album called "Looking in the Shadows," replacing Vicky Aspinall and Ingrid Weiss.

Influenced by bands like The Slits, Young Marble Giants, Delta 5, Au Pairs, Kleenex, Essential Logic, Pylon, Swell Maps, The Fall, and Josef K among others; The Raincoats have made a significant impact on the post-punk scene with their unique sound.
