female:pressure is an international collective for female, transgender and non-binary DJs, musicians, composers, producers, visual artists, agents, journalists and researchers working in the realms of electronic music and digital arts. the network was founded in 1998 by Vienna-based musician and artist Electric Indigo, and now has a membership of over 2100 artists from 74 countries. female:pressure hosts the Perspectives Festival in Berlin, a hugely popular ‘Visibility’ e-exhibit documenting female producers at work - femalepressure.tumblr.com, an annual "FACTS Survey" cataloguing the number of female and gender non-binary performers at international festivals, as well as parties, events, and club nights in cities throughout the world. http://femalepressure.net/ @female_pressure

Tom Tom Magazine is the only magazine in the world dedicated to female and gender non-binary drummers, beat makers and sonic artists. We are a full color quarterly print magazine distributed globally, website, digital media, events, social media movement and irl community. Tom Tom serves as the ultimate go-to guide for the latest information about drummers, music and feminism. Tom Tom seeks to raise awareness about female percussionists from all over the world and hopes to inspire women and girls of all ages to drum, all while strengthening and building the community of otherwise fragmented female musicians. We cover drummers of all ages, races, styles, creeds, sexualities, body sizes, skill levels and degrees of notoriety. The magazine and its messaging has a global distribution and reach. MINDY ABOVITZ

Mindy Abovitz is a self taught drummer and drum machine programmer with a Masters in Media Studies from The New School. She started Tom Tom Magazine; the first and only magazine about female drummers, in 2009. Tom Tom is full color print magazine based out of NYC that is currently distributed globally and is carried by Guitar Centers and Barnes & Noble nationwide. The magazine is also available for free in all Ace Hotels. She hopes to impact the music industry through print media, new media, showcases, panels and community interactions and see a 50% increase of female drummers in the next ten years. The magazine has a feminist mission and seeks to raise awareness about female percussionists from all over the world and hopes to inspire women and girls of all ages to drum, while strengthening and building the community of otherwise fragmented female musicians. Mindy has lectured, performed and held panels at: Web Tech Summit 2017, University of Cambridge, Smith College, NYU, Sarah Lawrence, Carnegie Mellon, UCSD, UCLA, CalArts, RISD, The Apple Store NYC, Perez Art Museum Miami and MoMA PS1 amongst many other institutions. She has appeared on the cover of Creative Review, and received press from the following media outlets: Red Bull TV, Refinery29, Bustle, Business Insider, FADER Magazine, i-D, LA Weekly, Miami Herald, Gawker and The Smithsonian. DANI MARI

Dani Mari is a multi genre music producer and visual artist that works with artists from all over the world. She is currently working on a solo album as Primitive Heart and her love for shoegaze has brought about collaborations with Violentene, Omega Vague, Xeresa and more.

As a visual artist, Dani Mari creates live visuals for her performances and other events. She is a huge horror fan and created a series of songs & horror films inspired by Dario Argento's movies about witches (Suspiria, Inferno & Mother of Tears) with Johnny Butler for Cruel Beauty Productions & premiered them at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival.

Dani Mari is the founder of Female Frequency, a community dedicated to empowering female, transgender & non-binary artists through the creation of music that is entirely female generated. She created an album made entirely by women with co-founders I Am Snow Angel & Claire London, Madame Gandhi, Ryat and many other female producers & engineers.

LEAH KING

Leah king profile

Leah King is a vocalist, music producer, and event organizer in Brooklyn. While based in Berlin from 2012-2015, she produced her first electro soul EP "There Comes a Time" with support from Converse Rubber Tracks. A member of female:pressure since 2013, she's performed at festivals and spoken at events throughout NYC and in Germany, England, Austria, France, Italy, and Czech Republic and has been featured on Frission Radio, Reboot FM, and Expatriarch Radio. She currently hosts "Culture of Consent with King: C.O.C.K.
