She comes from a family of musical legends, being the daughter of Ravi Shankar, niece of Norah Jones and Ananda Shankar, half-sister of Shubhendra Shankar and Ishita Shankar, and cousin of Ananda Sen Gupta, Zubeida Khanum, and Mamata Shankar.
