Corinne Bailey Rae

Corinne Bailey Rae is a multi-talented artist from Leeds, England. Born on 26 February 1979, she is known for her skills as a vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist, violinist, percussionist, and songwriter. With diverse musical influences ranging from Led Zeppelin to Bjork and inspirations like Jill Scott and Erykah Badu, Corinne has been compared to legendary artists such as Billie Holiday.

Her journey in music began at a young age when she sang in a church choir. At just 15 years old, she formed an indie band called 'Helen' before pursuing English Literature studies at Leeds University. During this time, she worked as a hat check girl at a jazz club where she had the opportunity to showcase her talent by singing with the house band.

In November 2005, Corinne gained recognition after performing her debut single 'Like A Star' on the UK TV show 'Later...With Jools Holland'. The following year in February 2006, she released her self-titled debut album 'Corinne Bailey Rae'. Her remarkable talent was acknowledged with two MOBO awards in September 2006. Additionally, Corinne collaborated with David Arnold on the music for the film 'Venus'.
