Dälek (pronounced dialec) is a hip hop outfit from Newark, New Jersey, founded in 1998. MC Dälek was responsible for lyrics, The Oktopus was the producer. DJ Still used to handle turntables but left Dälek in summer 2005.

For a band so steeped in noise and bombast, Dälek ended quietly, going on hiatus in 2011 without even an official statement. Brooks stresses that there was no beef between him and Momin, just a project that had run its course. Momin moved to Berlin and focused on electronic projects while Brooks made slightly more traditional rap as iconAclass. Performing classic Dälek tracks live gave Brooks the urge to revive Dälek, and with Okto’s blessing he assembled a new lineup in the spring of 2015 with co-producer Mike Manteca (Mike Mare) and DJ rEk.

Ipecac Recordings, founded by Greg Werckman and Mike Patton in 1999, has been making waves in the music industry for over two decades. With a reputation for pushing boundaries and challenging conventions, this label has earned its slogan of "Making people sick since 1999".

During its early years, Ipecac Recordings faced challenges in reaching European audiences. Fans had to import their favorite releases from the label's website or American online stores. However, thanks to partnerships with Caroline Distribution and Southern Records between 2000 and 2006, European editions became more accessible.

In 2006, Ipecac signed an exclusive distribution deal with Fontana for both Europe and the USA. This milestone allowed the label to expand its reach even further and solidify its presence in the global music scene.

Forged in the fires of the East Coast underground music scene in the 90s, experimental Hip Hop pioneers, Union City, NJ-based duo Dälek has spent decades carving out a unique niche fusing hardcore Hip Hop, noise and a radical approach to sound. Their brutal sonic temperament pushes rap music’s capacity for noise and protest to some exhilarating conclusions. 

Following in the footsteps of their predecessors Public Enemy while drawing from influences as varied as My Bloody Valentine and German experimentalists Faust, Dälek have succeeded in adding completely new textural and structural dimensions to rap music. 

A visceral and powerful live act, Dälek spent over a decade touring and bringing their raucous and blistering performances to audiences around the world. During this time they toured with and supported a wide range of acts in the Hip Hop, Rock, Metal, and Experimental genres including Flying Lotus, De La Soul, TOOL, The Melvins, Grandmaster Flash, Pharcyde, Fantomas, KRS One and The Bug. 

For their latest and eight album, Precipice, Dälek unleashes a work that is practically bristling with fury and power. Arriving on Ipecac Recordings. Predominantly the work of the core duo, Will Brooks, aka MC Dälek and Mike Manteca (Mike Mare), Precipice features a guest appearance of Adam Jones of Tool on one of the album's tracks. The band has enlisted Paul Romano (Mastodon) for the striking cover art, and the package also features the art of Mikel Elam.
