Electronic Sound

American latin-rock group, Electronic Sound, formed in the late 1960s and led by guitarist Carlos Santana. They gained widespread recognition after their iconic performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969. Their self-titled debut album, followed by "Abraxas" (1970) and "Santana III" (1971), became instant hits with Columbia Records.

In 1972, Electronic Sound embarked on a new musical journey with their album "Caravanserai," exploring a more experimental and jazz-oriented sound. This marked a significant shift away from rock while still retaining their Latin influences. Notable releases during this period include "Welcome" (1973), "Borboletta" (1974), and the triple live album "Lotus."

Throughout the following decades, lineup changes were frequent as Electronic Sound's music occasionally embraced a more commercial and pop-oriented direction without losing its Latin roots. In 1991, they left Columbia Records to sign with Polydor for their album "Milagro." However, it was their collaboration with Arista Records in 1998 that brought them immense success both commercially and critically.

Santana's achievements include eight Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards earned in 2000 for their record-breaking album "Supernatural," featuring the chart-topping hit "Smooth." The band's impact was further recognized when they were inducted into the Rock &
