King Tubby

King Tubby, born on January 28th, 1941 in Kingston, Jamaica, is a legendary figure known for his influence on the development of dub music in the 1960s. With a diploma in electronics and a passion for repairing electronic equipment, Tubby opened his own store where he repaired materials like amplifiers and speakers. In 1958, he started Tubby's Home Town Hi Fi and quickly became one of the best sound systems on the island. Tubby's remixes and production work with artists such as Lee Perry and Bunny Lee made him a celebrity in Jamaica during the 1970s. He played a pivotal role in shaping modern dub music before retiring from music later in his career. Tragically, King Tubby was shot and killed in 1989.
