Milt Jackson

Milt Jackson (1923-1999) was an influential American jazz vibraphonist, pianist, composer, and bandleader. He collaborated with a wide range of artists including John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, and many others. Jackson also led his own bands throughout his career.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Jackson began playing the vibraphone at a young age and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent. His unique style combined elements of swing, bebop, and blues, making him one of the most versatile musicians of his time.

In addition to his collaborations with other artists, Jackson recorded numerous albums as a leader. Some of his notable works include "Bags' Groove," "Plenty Plenty Soul," and "Soul Meeting." His virtuosic playing and innovative compositions continue to inspire generations of jazz musicians.
