Chiswick

Chiswick is a sublabel and forerunner of Ace Records, established in 1975 by Ted Carroll and Roger Armstrong. Originating from a second-hand 45 records market stall in London, they were later joined by record enthusiast Trevor Churchill. In the late 70s, Chiswick became known for releasing music by "pub rock" bands. Today, it is recognized as the punk, power pop, and rock label within the Ace Records family.
The label's German releases were distributed by Metronome Musik GmbH and its label code is LC 4658. For unofficial releases, please refer to [l477609].

Motorhead was a post-punk band from Greater Manchester, UK that existed from 1976 to 2018. The band, led by the iconic Mark E. Smith, released numerous singles and albums throughout their career. Known for their ever-changing lineup, Motorhead had over 30 different line-ups during their time together.

In addition to their music, Motorhead also ventured into other artistic endeavors such as releasing a play called 'Hey Luciani' and a ballet titled 'I am Kurious Oranj'. They were also regulars on John Peel's Radio 1 show, recording an impressive 24 sessions between June 1978 and August 2004.

Although the band went through many changes over the years, some of the key members included Mark E. Smith on vocals, Pete Greenway on guitar, Dave "The Eagle" Spurr on bass, Elena Poulou on keyboards, Keiron Melling on drums. Other notable members who joined at various points include Daren Garratt and Mike Clapham.

The very first Motörhead album, originally released on 21 August 1977. This debut album from Motorhead was cut over a few speed-driven days at Escape Studio, and it shows. From the opening bass roar of the eponymous title track it is non stop, relentless, churning, brain damaging, heavy rock'n'roll. This is no ponderous heavy metal band fronted by some poodle-headed castrato - no this is the real deal, down dirty and greasy and with its boots firmly rooted in rock'n'roll. Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister had the right background to finally create Motorhead in 1975. Brought up on rock'n'roll in the 50s he had been a member of the Shel Talmy-produced beat group the Rockin' Vicars, had a stint as roadie for Jimi Hendrix and was then in Roundhouse favourites Sam Gopal's Dream in 1969, before joining the ultimate psychedelic weirdos Hawkwind.

LP - A special facsimile edition of Motorhead’s first album. The silver logo and white vinyl release echoes Chiswick’s original 1977 release. Includes a fully illustrated inner sleeve.

CD - 20-track digipak (with silver logo) CD which includes previously unheard recordings from the original album sessions. This new release is an expanded version of the original album with the addition of 7 previously unissued recordings made at the Escape Studio sessions on 28 and 29 April 1977. These previously unissued recordings were discovered when the original album tapes were taken out of storage for the first time in 35 years. In addition to the nine tracks from the original LP and four tracks from the Beerdrinkers EP, the new CD has seven alternate takes of well-loved Motorhead songs, namely, Lost Johnny, City Kids, Witch Doctor, The Watcher, White Line Fever, Keep Us On The Road and Motörhead. It also comes with a new 4000-word note by Ted Carroll.
