Pascal Comelade founded The Bel Canto Orchestra in Barcelona in 1983. Comelade lives in Ceret (North Catalunya). He has spent more than thirty years composing and creating a luscious, adventurous musical path in his own inimitable style which consumes and coverts popular music into a dreamlike avant-garde language. He is best known for bringing toy instruments, seemingly impossible sounds, and an infinite number of minimalist and short instrumentals which form the corpus of his work, along with a host of collaborations and adaptations of old musical genres. He has collaborated with many singers and musicians from diverse genres of music including P.J.Harvey and Robert Wyatt. Comelade's world is atypical and his inspirations come from many different sources, from contemporary music to the Cramps, and make him one of the most creative and original artists of our times. At the crossroads of many different arts, never where he's expected, he never ceases to surprise his audience, taking the listener on poetic paths of primitive perception.
