Chiswick

Chiswick is a sublabel and forerunner of Ace Records, established in 1975 by Ted Carroll and Roger Armstrong. Originating from a second-hand 45 records market stall in London, they were later joined by record enthusiast Trevor Churchill. In the late 70s, Chiswick became known for releasing music by "pub rock" bands. Today, it is recognized as the punk, power pop, and rock label within the Ace Records family.
The label's German releases were distributed by Metronome Musik GmbH and its label code is LC 4658. For unofficial releases, please refer to [l477609].

The Damned is an English punk band formed in 1976 by Dave Vanian (vocals), Brian James (guitar), Captain Sensible (bass then guitar), and Rat Scabies (drums). They were the first British punk band to release a single in 1976. In the 1980s, they transitioned to a more psychedelic and gothic sound.

Rough Trade Essential

The Damned's third album and a stonewall classic. Originally released in 1979 - this legendary album was the first from the revised line-up of Capt, Rat, Dave and Algy. This was the start of the Damned's second time around which most of their hard core fans preferred to their original 1977 line up. Besides the three charting singles 'Love Song', 'Smash it Up' and 'I Just Can't Be Happy Today' there is also Dave Vanian's epic tribute to Vampira 'Plan 9, Channel 7', a cover of the MC5's 'Looking at You', and the manic 'Anti-Pope'. A wonderfully produced album with lots of little surprises hidden between the grooves.
