The Temptations

The Temptations are an American vocal group known for their success with Motown Records during the 1960s and 1970s. With their distinct harmonies, choreography, and flashy wardrobe, they were highly influential in the evolution of R&B and soul music.

Formed in 1960 in Detroit, Michigan under the name The Elgins, they changed their name to The Temptations before being signed at Motown in 1962. They became the first Motown recording act to win a Grammy Award. Throughout their career, they have released four Billboard Hot 100 number one singles and fourteen R&B number one singles, making them one of the most successful groups in music history.

The current members of *The Temptations* include Otis Williams (the only original member still active), Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, Tony Grant, and Jawan M. Jackson. Over the years, there have been several changes in lineup due to various reasons including replacements for deceased members such as Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin, Dennis Edwards among others.
