The Jeb Loy Nichols Special

Label Decca Genre America & Canada Cat no. 2796995

Jeb Loy Nichols has been around for a while, but with this record he delivers his finest outing to date. Tapping into the music that is at his heart and reflecting the sound that he gathered together so well in the two volumes of the 'Country Got Soul' albums and the subsequent re-recording; the country soul revue's testifying. The album, recorded with the Nostalgia 77 band and produced by Benedic Lamdin has an old school feel that is straight out of Nashville / Muscle Shoals taking in elements of country, blues, funk and featuring plenty of soul. As well as Jeb's great singing of his own songs, there are also versions of songs by the late Townes Van Zandt, the late Larry Jon Wilson, Merle Haggard and Pablo Dad! This album is about good songs, good singing, good playing and good livin'. Signed and recorded for Ross Allen's city country division of his new meltdown music label. It was immediately snapped up by Decca records. Its already been getting played by Gilles Peterson, Rob Da Bank and Sean Rowley and no one but them has it. It's not called the Jeb Loy Nichols special for's purty special indeed y'all!
