Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin, born on March 25, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee, was an American singer, pianist, and songwriter. Widely regarded as one of the best female vocalists of all time, she earned the nickname 'Queen of Soul'. In 1987, she became the first woman to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Aretha was the daughter of Reverend C.L. Franklin and sister to Carolyn Franklin, Erma Franklin, Vaughn Franklin, and Reverend Cecil Franklin. Her brother served as her business manager until his death in 1990. She had four sons: Clarence Franklin from Donald Burk; Edward Franklin from Edward Jordan; Teddy F. White (also known as Teddy Richards) when she was married to Ted White; and a Christian rap artist named Ken Cunningham.

Glynn Turman was Aretha's last husband before her passing on August 16th, 2018 at the age of 76 in Detroit, Michigan.
