Blackfield is the collaboration between Israeli songwriter & musician Aviv Geffen & British musician & producer Steven Wilson. The collaboration, extending from their self-titled debut in 2004 to the recent album ‘For The Music’ in 2020, has proven to be a prolific partnership for creating striking & affecting music.
The pair makes for a formidable musical force; Geffen has worked with legendary producers Tony Visconti & Trevor Horn, has performed with U2, Placebo & Biffy Clyro & was a judge on the Israeli TV show ‘The Voice’. Wilson, as the leader of the hugely influential band Porcupine Tree, has also had a highly successful solo career, with Top 5 chart albums across Europe & multiple Grammy nominations.
With guest appearances from Suede's Brett Anderson, Jonathon Donahue from ‘Mercury Rev’ & ‘Anathema’ frontman Vincent Cavanagh, ‘Blackfield IV’ was described by Record Collector as 'a record that has an elegantly timeless & melodic grace to it' (****). Terrorizer in the UK stated that 'Blackfield IV is as rich sonically as it is musically, with countless moments of utter inspiration, this is creative liberation' & Prog described it as 'a melancholic & heartfelt collection that is occasionally stunning & often uplifting.
