Brainiac

Brainiac was an indie rock band from Dayton, Ohio that was active from the early 1990s-1997. The group's promising career came to a tragic end when singer Tim Taylor passed away in a car accident on May 23, 1997. Despite their short-lived existence, Brainiac had already gained recognition as one of independent rock's most exciting outfits during the post-grunge era.

In 1997, Brainiac released the EP Electro Shock For President and began working on their fourth album, which unfortunately remained unfinished. Produced by Jim O'Rourke, this EP showcased the band's potential to expand their sound into the electronic genre. Since then, surviving members have kept a relatively low profile except for Schmersal who went on to form Enon.

If you enjoy music from artists such as Girls Against Boys, Six Finger Satellite, or Unwound, you will likely appreciate Brainiac's unique style. Their influence can also be heard in bands like Scratch Acid and Mclusky.
