Colleen

Colleen is French multi-instrumentalist Cecile Schott, who uses her voice and the treble viola da gamba to weave intricate stories about the human mind and heart. She first discovered the viola da gamba at 15 years old in the film Tous les matins du monde, where its sound resonated deeply with her. Inspired by African music from different countries, genres, and eras, Schott tunes the instrument like a guitar and plucks it instead of bowing it traditionally. This unique approach opens up a new world of sound that she explores in great depth on Captain of None, an addictive and unconventional pop album.
