Curtis Mayfield

Curtis Mayfield was an American singer, guitarist, songwriter, and producer. He was born on June 3, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away on December 26, 1999 in Roswell, Georgia at the age of 57.

Mayfield co-founded the R&B vocal group The Impressions in the late 1950s. However, he left the group in 1970 to pursue a solo career. During this time, he also co-founded the record label Curtom with Eddie Thomas.

With his unique blend of soulful vocals and socially conscious lyrics, Curtis Mayfield made a lasting impact on the music industry. His contributions as a musician and producer continue to inspire artists today.
