Danny Krivit

American disco & electronic DJ, producer/remixer. Danny Krivit was born on 10 April 1957 in New York City, New York, USA. Growing up in Greenwich Village during the 1960s, he was immersed in a musical environment with his mother being a jazz singer and his father managing legendary jazz trumpeter Chet Baker. As a boy working at "The Ninth Circle," Krivit had the opportunity to meet influential music figures such as Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Mingus, John Lennon, and Yoko Ono.

Krivit's home was also filled with musical inspiration; The Mothers Of Invention lived down the hall and Sid Bernstein (manager of The Rascals) lived upstairs. At school, he befriended Creed Taylor's son (producer for Verve, CTI, and Kudu labels) and soul guru Nile Rogers. By 1970, Krivit had developed a passion for vinyl records and DJ-ing as an amateur.

In 1971, after receiving white-label promo copies from James Brown himself through a friend who worked at Polydor Records (where Krivit's neighbor was vice president), he started DJ-ing at "The Ninth Circle" which had transformed into a disco by then. Throughout the years, Krivit became part of the underground scene where he met renowned DJs like Nicky Siano of the Gallery and David Mancuso
