A Heavy Metal band from Kolbotn, Norway, formed in 1987 (initially founded as Black Death in 1986).
Darkthrone started as a death metal group, but having released ‘Soulside Journey’ they decided to abandon the technical death metal style and transformed into a black metal band. The band’s sound has diversified over their career to include elements of traditional heavy metal, thrash, doom, death and speed metal, as well as crust punk. They have not played live since 1991 and since 1993 Darkthrone has been a duo consisting of Fenriz (Gylve Nagell) and Nocturno Culto (Ted Skjellum).

Darkthrone began life in the late 80’s as a thrash/death metal act &amp; progressed through technical death/doom metal experimentation to become legends of the black metal world. They were one of the original leading bands of the Norwegian scene, as well as inspiring a whole generation of metal bands.

‘The Underground Resistance’ was another stellar venture through the metal cosmos &amp; contains Darkthrone’s trademark masterful riffing in a broad range of styles, effortlessly bounding through the annals of classic metal, taking in thrash &amp; black metal &amp; not forgetting a dose of Punk. Overall, a ferocious &amp; dynamic set of tracks drenched in Fenriz’s &amp; Nocturno’s rich &amp; diverse tastes in all things metal, primarily those rooted firmly in the spirit of the 80’s. 6 tracks long &amp; everyone an epic, this was undoubtedly among Darkthrone’s strongest material of the decade.

‘The Underground Resistance’ was written &amp; recorded spring 2010 to summer 2012 at Necrohell 2 studios by the band themselves. The album was mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door, Texas USA. Cover artwork also comes courtesy of the iconic &amp; celebrated artist Jim Fitzpatrick.

In the year where the band's seminal album, 'A Blaze in the Northern Sky', marks its 30th anniversary, this edition of ‘The Underground Resistance’ is presented on black vinyl, including inner sleeve with lyrics.
