Eagles Of Death Metal

Eagles Of Death Metal is an American rock band formed in Palm Desert, California in 1998 by Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme. The band's name originated from a joke between the two founders, as they playfully teased their friend Cole Loo, a death-metal enthusiast. Inspired by a "zombie green" VW van with the license plate "DOOMED," Hughes questioned the legitimacy of the dark subgenre and humorously referred to it as "The *peaceful, easy feeling* of death metal." This sparked their curiosity about what such music would actually sound like.

The Eagles Of Death Metal made their first appearance on Vol. 4 of Homme's Desert Sessions recordings in 1998, with Loo contributing his Darth Vader-like death-metal vocals under the name "Loo Balls." In this band, each member adopted unique aliases: Jesse Hughes became Jesse "The Devil" Hughes, Josh Homme became Carlo Von Sexron (or Baby Duck), and Tim Vanhamel took on the moniker Timmy Tipover VanHamel.

Tragically, during their concert at Le Bataclan in Paris on November 13th, 2015, the Eagles Of Death Metal were targeted by terrorists who opened fire on the crowd.
