Hater was an American rock supergroup that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1993. The band emerged as a side project led by Soundgarden bassist Ben Shepherd. Other members included Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron, guitarist John McBain (formerly of Monster Magnet and later part of Wellwater Conspiracy with Cameron and Shepherd), bassist John Waterman for the self-titled album, Devilhead vocalist Brian Wood, brother of Mother Love Bone vocalist Andrew Wood, and Alan Davis on bass for The 2nd.

Hater's music is characterized by their unique blend of rock influences, delivering powerful performances that captivate audiences. With their self-titled album and subsequent releases, they showcased their exceptional talent and creative prowess.

Underpinning everything there’s a continuing sense of drama throughout; richly textured crescendos, chiming guitars and delicate melodies are guided by Caroline Landahl’s tender yet sharpened vocals. Sincere is joyously effervescent, but with a dark underbelly where fury manifests in a swirl of entrancing and propulsive percussion.

Recorded last year in Malmö, Hater welcomed two new band members and those early day sparks saw them quickly turning demos into fully-formed new songs that appear on the record. Sincere was produced by long-time collaborator Joakim Lindberg and was mixed and mastered by John Cornfield, whose credits include Ride, The Stone Roses and Robert Plant.
