Issac Hayes

Issac Hayes was an American singer, keyboardist, producer, songwriter, and actor. He was born on August 20, 1942 in Covington, Tennessee and passed away on August 10, 2008 in Memphis at the age of 65.

During the 1960s and 1970s, Hayes played a vital role in shaping the "Memphis sound" as a musician and later as a songwriter/producer for Stax record label. His solo career reached its peak in 1971 with the soundtrack to the movie Shaft. In recognition of his contributions to music, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

Besides his musical achievements, Hayes is also known for his voice acting role as Chef on the animated TV series South Park from 1997 to 2006. Isaac Hayes III is his son.
