James Horner

James Horner was an American film music composer, conductor, and orchestrator. He was born on August 14, 1953 in Los Angeles, California and tragically passed away on June 22, 2015 in the Los Padres National Forest, California. Horner's notable achievements include winning two Academy Awards in 1997 for his score and song compositions for the film "Titanic".

Horner's passion for music began at a young age as he started playing piano when he was just five years old. He furthered his musical education by studying at the Royal College Of Music in London under György Ligeti. He obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California and continued to pursue higher education by earning a master's degree while working towards his doctorate with Paul Chihara among other renowned musicians.

Throughout his career, Horner composed scores for over 100 films including "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan", "Aliens", "Legends of the Fall", "Braveheart", and many more. His collaboration with director Ron Howard began with the film "Cocoon" in 1985 and continued on various projects. In addition to films, Horner also created music for short films, television shows such as CBS Evening News' theme music starting from September 5th, 2006.
