Meat Loaf (born September 27, 1947 in Dallas, Texas - died January 20, 2022) was an American musician and actor. He gained fame for his 'Bat Out of Hell' album trilogy which included "Bat Out of Hell", "Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell" and "Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose". With over 43 million copies sold worldwide, "Bat Out of Hell" remains one of the best-selling albums of all time. Despite initial difficulty establishing a steady career in the US, Meat Loaf achieved iconic status and popularity in Europe, particularly the UK.

Meat Loaf's success extended beyond music. He appeared in over 50 movies and television shows, often playing characters resembling his stage persona or as himself. Notable roles include 'Eddie' in the American premiere of "The Rocky Horror Show" and its film adaptation "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", as well as Robert "Bob" Paulson in Fight Club.

With worldwide sales exceeding 80 million copies, Meat Loaf is considered one of the best-selling artists ever. His talent earned him a Grammy Award for 'Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance' for the song "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" from his album 'Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell'. VH1 also recognized him by ranking him at number 96 on their list
