Morbid Angel

Morbid Angel is a death metal band based in Tampa, Florida. Formed in 1984 in Charlotte, North Carolina, they quickly became known for their progressive and evil sound. Inspired by Slayer, the band released their first album "Abominations Of Desolation" in 1986 (although it wasn't officially released until 1991). Their breakthrough came with the genre-defining "Blessed Are the Sick" in 1991, showcasing their complex rhythms and well-crafted lyrics from Sumerian and Lovecraftian realms.

Notably, Morbid Angel's album "Covenant" (1993) was the first death metal release on a major label. The band's technical prowess and artistic brilliance impressed musicians outside of the genre as well. With Trey Azagthoth leading on guitar since its inception and Steve Tucker on bass & vocals, Morbid Angel continues to captivate audiences with their unique blend of progressive death metal.

The current line-up includes Trey Azagthoth on guitar, Steve Tucker on bass & vocals (with previous stints between 1996-2001, 2003-2004), Scott Fuller on drums (since 2017), and Dan Vadim Von on guitar (since 2017).
