Nirvana is a rock band from Aberdeen, Washington, USA. Formed in 1987, they emerged from the Seattle grunge scene of the late 1980s/early 1990s. The power trio brought a new aesthetic to the rock scene at that time. Their major-label debut album, "Nevermind," released in 1991 by DGC/Geffen Records, broke both the band and grunge into mainstream America. Sadly, lead guitarist and vocalist Kurt Cobain's death by suicide in April 1994 marked the end of Nirvana.

The band went through several name changes before settling on Nirvana in March 1988. Prior to that, they were known as Skid Row (6), Pen Cap Chew (2), Bliss (108), Ted Ed Fred, Throat Oyster, and Windowpane.

The final lineup consisted of Kurt Cobain on lead guitar and vocals until his untimely death in April 1994; Krist Novoselic on bass and accordion from March 1987 to April 1994; and Dave Grohl on drums and backing vocals from September 25, 1990 to April 5, 1994.

Nirvana’s third (and ultimately final) studio album, In Utero, was 1993’s most polarizing rock record. The unadorned sonic rawness laid bare every primal nuance of the Nirvana’s confrontational, yet vulnerable material. Featuring the singles “Heart-Shaped Box,” and “All Apologies,” it has sold over 15 million copies worldwide. With the approval of Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, original album producer Steve Albini remixed and remastered the album in 2013 at Abbey Road Studios. 180-gram vinyl.
