R Stevie Moore

Robert Steven Moore, also known as R. Stevie Moore or RSM, is an American musician born on January 18, 1952 in Nashville, Tennessee. He is considered the singer and songwriter who pioneered lo-fi/DIY music and is often referred to as the "godfather of home recording". With a career spanning over five decades, he has released approximately 400 albums independently since 1968.

Recognized as one of the most influential artists of the cassette underground, R. Stevie Moore's impact can be felt in the works of bedroom and hypnagogic pop artists in the post-millennium era. While about three dozen "official" albums (mostly compilations) have been released on various labels, his extensive discography showcases his prolific output and creative exploration.

In a surprising move, R. Stevie Moore announced his retirement from all musical activity and interviews through his website on New Year's Eve in 2019. Despite this announcement, his legacy as a groundbreaking artist continues to inspire musicians around the world.
