Rare Earth

American Psychedelic Rock/ Psychedelic Soul group from Detroit, Michigan. Rare Earth was formed in the late 1960s and consisted of Gil Bridges on saxophone, flute, and vocals; Peter Hoorelbeke (aka Peter Rivera) on lead vocals and drums; John Parrish (aka John Persh) on bass guitar, trombone, and vocals; Rod Richards (born Rod Cox) on guitar and vocals; Kenny James (born Ken Folcik) on keyboards. In late 1969, Edward "Eddie" Guzman joined the group playing congas and assorted percussive instruments.

Rare Earth's unique blend of psychedelic rock and soul music set them apart from their contemporaries. With their energetic performances and infectious grooves, they quickly gained a loyal following. Their hits like "Get Ready," "I Just Want to Celebrate," and "Hey Big Brother" became anthems of the era.
