Acclaimed singer, songwriter, composer and guitarist Ry Cooder continued his movement towards R&B, but added an extra touch of the American Southwest with Bop Til You Drops' successor Borderline.

The 1980 release, and Cooder's ninth studio album, kept a primarily electric sound and included terrific finds like the Tex-Mex-flavoured The Girls from Texas a cover of Billy The Kid' Emerson's; Crazy 'Bout an Automobile and Cooder's take on Wilson Pickett's 1966 hit 634-5789.
