The Bad Plus

The Bad Plus is an American jazz quartet that was founded in 2000 in New York City. Originally a trio, the band consists of Reid Anderson on bass and David King on drums, who have been with the group since its inception. In 2021, Chris Speed joined as the tenor saxophonist and Ben Monder as the guitarist.

Over the years, The Bad Plus has seen changes in their lineup, with Ethan Iverson on piano from 2000 to 2017 and Orrin Evans taking over from 2018 to 2021. Their unique blend of jazz has captivated audiences worldwide.

Influenced by artists such as Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Brad Mehldau Trio, and Medeski, Martin & Wood among others, The Bad Plus continues to push boundaries within the genre. With their distinctive sound and innovative approach to improvisation, they have established themselves as one of the most exciting acts in contemporary jazz.
