The Coasters

The Coasters were an American Doo Wop and early Rock & Roll group formed in September 1955 in Los Angeles, CA. They evolved from a Los Angeles based R&B/Doo Wop group called The Robins. After signing with Atlantic Records, the group split up and two members, tenor Cornell Gunter and bass Bobby Nunn, formed The Coasters. Over the years, the lineup of the group changed, including members such as Billy Guy, Carl Gardner, Leon Hughes, Will "Dub" Jones, and Earl Carroll.

In 1987, The Coasters were rightfully recognized for their contributions to music when they were inducted into the prestigious Rock And Roll Hall of Fame as performers. Their unique sound combined elements of doo-wop harmonies with humorous storytelling lyrics.

If you enjoy artists like The Clovers, The Diamonds, Dion & The Belmonts or Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers among others who made significant contributions to the Doo Wop and early Rock & Roll genres during that era then you'll definitely appreciate the timeless music of The Coasters.
