The Tragically Hip

The Tragically Hip is a Canadian rock band from Kingston, Ontario. Formed in the 1980s, the band consists of lead singer Gord Downie, guitarists Paul Langlois and Rob Baker, bassist Gord Sinclair, and drummer Johnny Fay. Known for their unique sound and poetic lyrics, The Hip gained a loyal following throughout their career.

In 2015, tragedy struck when lead singer Gord Downie was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Despite this devastating news, the band embarked on a final tour across Canada to support their thirteenth album "Man Machine Poem." The tour concluded with an emotional concert in Kingston on August 20, 2016.

Following Downie's passing on October 17, 2017, The Tragically Hip announced that they would no longer be active as a performing or recording entity. Their music continues to resonate with fans around the world and their legacy as one of Canada's most beloved rock bands lives on.
