Chicken Shack

Chicken Shack is a British band that originated from Sounds Of Blue in Stourbridge, UK. Formed in the early 1960s, the original members included Christine Perfect on vocals and piano, Andy Sylvester on bass guitar, Stan Webb on guitar, and Chris Wood on saxophone. After going through several drummers, Dave Bidwell joined as their permanent drummer in 1966/67.

During a tour with Fleetwood Mac in 1967, Christine Perfect met John McVie and later married him. She eventually left Chicken Shack to replace Peter Green in Fleetwood Mac. Her departure led to her replacement by Paul Raymond.

In 1970, tensions within the group resulted in a falling-out between Stan Webb and Mike Vernon, leading to their record label dropping them. Additionally, disagreements within the band caused Dave Bidwell and Paul Raymond to leave and join Savoy Brown. Undeterred by these setbacks, Stan Webb continued with new members including bass guitarist John Glassock from Jethro Tull and Paul Hancox on drums. However, after various lineup changes throughout the mid-1970s, Chicken Shack ultimately disbanded.
