Charly Records, also known as Charly, is a British label specializing in reissuing old music from iconic catalogs such as Sun Record Company and Chess. Founded by Jean-Luc Young in France in 1974 and later moved to England in 1975, Charly Records has become a renowned name in the industry.

Throughout its history, Charly Records established various associated companies for licensing and rights, including Charly Records International APS based in Denmark and Charly Holdings Inc. registered in the USA. In the 1990s, they collaborated with Movieplay Portuguesa for CD releases, resulting in the presence of SPA rights society on those releases.

Despite being dissolved in 2001, Charly Records underwent new management and became part of the Snapper Music group. Today, it continues to distribute its reissued music through their extensive network.

Jerry Lee Lewis was an American rock 'n' roll and country singer and piano player, born on 29 September 1935 in Ferriday, Louisiana. He gained fame for his energetic performances and is best known for his hit songs 'Great Balls Of Fire' and 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On', both released in 1957 by Sun Records. Jerry Lee Lewis was affectionately called *The Killer* by his fans.

Throughout his career, Jerry Lee Lewis made a significant impact on the music industry. His talent as a pianist combined with his powerful vocals set him apart from other artists of his time. In recognition of his contributions to rock 'n' roll, he was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.

In addition to rock 'n' roll, Jerry Lee Lewis also had success in the country music genre. His unique style blended elements of both genres, creating a distinctive sound that resonated with audiences worldwide. This led to his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2022.

Jerry Lee Lewis was one of the true pioneers of rock’n’roll and, with perhaps the exception of Duane Eddy, outlived all of his peers, despite his high-octane life style. He was one of the first rock artists to have his thrilling performances captured on a live album release,  while as recently as 2010 Mean Old Man garnered some of his best album sales to date (Last Man Standing, 2006) remains his biggest seller). 

1979 witnessed Jerry Lee’s first performance at the Palomino Club in Van Nuys, California. This legendary honkytonk was one of Lee’s favorite stomping grounds, and he was something of a favorite son with the patrons. He played for three nights from 18-20 June and there were further appearances in 1981 and 1985. In 1991, some thirty years ago, The Complete Palomino Club Recordings – a double disc set – was released on Tomato Records. The Tomato set was short-lived and is reissued here, worldwide, due to continuing demand.

There have been many releases of live Jerry Lee albums over the years, of varying quality, however At The Palomino must rate as one of his very finest. In May of this year (2022) – and not before time – it was announced that Jerry Lee had been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and many of his country hits are featured here. You certainly get a whole Iotta Jerry Lee with this release!
