Lightnin' Hopkins was an American country blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Born on March 15, 1912 in Centerville, Texas, he became a legendary figure in the music industry. In 1920, Hopkins had the opportunity to play with Blind Lemon Jefferson at a social function, which greatly influenced his musical career.

In 1946, while playing alongside his cousin Texas Alexander in Houston, Hopkins was discovered by Lola Anne Cullum of Los Angeles' Aladdin Records. He started recording with pianist Wilson Smith and together they were known as 'Lightning' & 'Thunder', adding dynamic energy to their marketing.

Throughout his career, Lightnin' Hopkins produced strong recordings including the popular song "Mojo Hand" in 1960. His talent and unique style inspired many artists such as Jimmie Vaughan, Townes Van Zandt, and Ron "Pigpen" McKernan.

Although often miscredited for writing Chuck Willis's song "I Feel So Bad," covered by Little Milton and Elvis Presley among others; Lightnin' Hopkins did write a song with the same name released in 1947 on Aladdin Records and later in 1962 on Imperial Records.

P-Vine is a Japanese label that was established in 1975 by Yasufumi Higurashi and Akira Kochi in Tokyo, Japan. Originally specializing in blues, the label has since expanded to cover a wider range of music genres including jazz, latin music, funk, j-pop, and garage punk.

Limited edition, includes obi. Reverse paste and coated original jacket specification. Lightnin' Hopkins is the king of the low-down and dirty blues. His 1954 Herald recordings have long been regarded as the absolute dirtiest and best of his many recordings. The album Lightnin' And The Blues, a compilation of 12 of those recordings, was originally released on LP on the same label in 1960 and has long been renowned as a rare release, and is now being reissued on dark green vinyl. The lightning bolt jacket, which has always shaken the hearts of blues fans with its sound, has been reissued in its original reversed and coated version! Lightnin' electrics with bass and drums, wild and dirty, booming and bellowing throughout! Lightnin's electric guitar, accompanied by bass and drums, is wild and dirty, and the lightning bolt on the jacket is a must for fainting in agony!
