He gained fame for his 'Bat Out of Hell' album trilogy which included "Bat Out of Hell", "Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell" and "Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose". With over 43 million copies sold worldwide, "Bat Out of Hell" remains one of the best-selling albums of all time. Despite initial difficulty establishing a steady career in the US, Meat Loaf achieved iconic status and popularity in Europe, particularly the UK.

Meat Loaf's success extended beyond music. He appeared in over 50 movies and television shows, often playing characters resembling his stage persona or as himself.
