The Melvins are a prolific rock/metal band formed in 1983 in Montesano, WA. They have had a rotating cast of more than 10 bass players and have released over 20 studio albums throughout their 40-year career. Their current bassist is Trevor Dunn. The band performs under the name "Melvins Lite" with Trevor Dunn on stand-up bass and under the name "Melvins 1983" with Dale on bass instead of drums.

The core members of the Melvins are Buzz Osborne (guitar/lead vocals) and Dale Crover (drums/vocals). The band was originally based in Montesano, WA before relocating to San Francisco, CA in 1988 and eventually settling in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley.

The name "Melvins" came from a grocery clerk at the Thriftway in Montesano where Buzz Osborne worked. They chose this name as it was an appropriately ridiculous name that referred to the most hated fellow employee at the store.

Ipecac Recordings, founded by Greg Werckman and Mike Patton in 1999, has been making waves in the music industry for over two decades. With a reputation for pushing boundaries and challenging conventions, this label has earned its slogan of "Making people sick since 1999".

During its early years, Ipecac Recordings faced challenges in reaching European audiences. Fans had to import their favorite releases from the label's website or American online stores. However, thanks to partnerships with Caroline Distribution and Southern Records between 2000 and 2006, European editions became more accessible.

In 2006, Ipecac signed an exclusive distribution deal with Fontana for both Europe and the USA. This milestone allowed the label to expand its reach even further and solidify its presence in the global music scene.

Blistering live recording of the best selling Melvins album ever. Originally released in 1983, Houdini is considered by many to be the blueprint of the whole grunge movement. The whole concept originated from an invitation by the All Tomorrows Parties people to perform the entire Houdini album live as part of their don't look back series. The band rented a warehouse in Vernon, just south of LA, set up the gear and rehearsed all afternoon for the invitation only performance that evening. Then after running through the show twice, they took the tapes to the studio, picked out the best songs of the two sets, mixed them and mastered them onto this cd.&nbsp;First time ever on vinyl.
