Touch and Go

Silkworm was a US indie rock band that formed in Missoula in 1987. They later moved to Seattle in 1990 and gained recognition for their unique sound and captivating performances. The band consisted of *Andy Cohen* on guitar, *Michael Dahlquist* on drums, *Tim Midgett* on bass, *Joel R. L. Phelps* on guitar (1987–1994), and *Matt Kadane* on keys (2002–2005). Silkworm's music resonated with fans and critics alike, drawing comparisons to artists such as Archers Of Loaf, Treepeople, and Superchunk.

Throughout their career, Silkworm released several albums that showcased their musical versatility and creativity. Their songs were characterized by intricate guitar melodies, powerful drumming, and introspective lyrics. However, tragedy struck the band when drummer Michael Dahlquist passed away in 2005, leading to the dissolution of Silkworm.

Despite their untimely end, Silkworm's legacy lives on through their influential music. Their contributions to the indie rock genre continue to inspire musicians today. Touch And Go Records was started in Lansing, Michigan, by Tesco Vee and Dave Stimson in 1981 as an outgrowth of Touch And Go Zine, a fanzine the duo published. Their intent was to document their local hardcore punk scene.

Necros bassist Corey Rusk hooked up with Tesco to help run the label soon after it started and assumed full control after Vee moved to Washington, DC, in 1983. In 1987, Rusk moved the label to Chicago, Illinois, where the label still resides.

Over the years, Touch And Go has issued records by influential bands like *The Jesus Lizard*, *Slint*, *Shellac*, and *Big Black*. However, in 2008, Rusk announced that the label would be cutting back on its activity and ending its distribution services due to the economic climate of the times.

Originally released in 2004 on CD only and finally on vinyl 11 years later. Founded in 1987, Silkworm's core members were Andy Cohen, Michael Dahlquist and Tim Midgett. This album also includes Matt Kadane of The New Year and Bedhead. 'It'll Be Cool', produced with typical brawniness by Steve Albini, is the band's ninth album, and it's as sturdy, dependable, and wholly unconcerned with fashion as ever.
