The Jesus Lizard is an influential band that originated in Texas and later moved to Chicago. Formed by vocalist David Yow and bassist David Wm. Sims, both of whom were previously members of the Austin-based band Scratch Acid. After Scratch Acid disbanded, Yow and Sims joined forces with guitarist Duane Denison (Cargo Cult) to create The Jesus Lizard.

With their unique blend of punk, noise rock, and post-hardcore, The Jesus Lizard quickly gained a reputation for their intense live performances and raw energy. Their music is characterized by Yow's distinctive vocals, Sims' powerful basslines, Denison's intricate guitar work, and a relentless rhythm section.

Throughout their career, The Jesus Lizard released several critically acclaimed albums such as "Goat," "Liar," and "Down." They have influenced numerous bands with their aggressive sound and uncompromising attitude. Despite disbanding in 1999, The Jesus Lizard remains an important figure in alternative rock history.

Touch And Go Records was started in Lansing, Michigan, by Tesco Vee and Dave Stimson in 1981 as an outgrowth of Touch And Go Zine, a fanzine the duo published. Their intent was to document their local hardcore punk scene.

Necros bassist Corey Rusk hooked up with Tesco to help run the label soon after it started and assumed full control after Vee moved to Washington, DC, in 1983. In 1987, Rusk moved the label to Chicago, Illinois, where the label still resides.

Over the years, Touch And Go has issued records by influential bands like *The Jesus Lizard*, *Slint*, *Shellac*, and *Big Black*. However, in 2008, Rusk announced that the label would be cutting back on its activity and ending its distribution services due to the economic climate of the times.

The 'Pure' EP was the first ever record by the Jesus Lizard. 'Pure' reveals an opening bone-crushing trifecta - 'Blockbuster', 'Bloody Mary' and 'Rabid Pigs', which became classics in the Jesus Lizard's cannon, featuring some of the band's most endearing characteristics: Duane Denison's guitar frenzy, David Yow's garbled vocal hysterics and David WM Sims' uncanny precision on bass.
