The Residents are a US avant-garde group based in San Francisco. They officially started with the release of "Meet The Residents" in 1974, although they had been collaborating since 1969 or earlier. Known for their concept albums, multimedia projects, and enigmatic nature, the band has worked with numerous guest stars and maintains a highly secretive identity. Their name was inspired by a rejection letter from Warner Bros. Records that simply addressed them as "Residents."

Commercial Album showcased the incredible depth of the group’s musical palette and proved definitively that they could easily be as big as The Beatles if they wanted to. Probably bigger, actually.
